The Clever Hare and the Tyrant Lion

The Clever Hare and the Tyrant Lion

Once upon a time, in a dense and verdant forest, there lived an arrogant lion named Bhasuraka, who ruled over the animal kingdom with an iron paw. Bhasuraka’s insatiable hunger led him to hunt and kill far more animals than he could eat, causing needless suffering among his subjects.

One day, a delegation of animals gathered their courage and approached the lion with a proposal to spare their lives. “O mighty Bhasuraka,” they pleaded, “let one of us come to you each day as your meal. This way, you need not hunt, and the forest will be freed from terror.”

The lion agreed, and peace seemed to return to the forest. But fate turned grim when it was a small hare’s turn to fulfill the deadly pact. Unlike the others, this hare was wise and resourceful. His heart ached with sadness, but his mind buzzed with a plan.

As the hare made his way to the lion’s den, he stumbled upon a well. Gazing into its depths, he saw his own reflection and an idea sparked in his clever mind. “I’ll use this well to outwit Bhasuraka,” he thought. And with that, the hare proceeded, late as he might be.

When the hare eventually reached the lion, Bhasuraka was outraged by both the hare’s small size and his tardiness. But the hare spoke with conviction, “Great Lion, there lies a reason for my delay. On my way to you, a fearsome lion claimed to be the true king of the forest!”

The hare led the curious but furious lion to the well and pointed into the water. “See there! That strong lion in the well claims your throne!”

Without a second’s thought, the lion leapt at his own image, only to fall into the well and drown. The forest animals rejoiced, their lives saved by the hare’s brilliance.

And so, the clever hare became a hero, his wit and courage ensuring that no animals would ever again fall prey to tyranny.

The forest creatures lived happily ever after, forever grateful to the hare who taught them that sometimes, the strength of the mind is mightier than the strength of the body.
